　　Terry: What do you think of my new suit?
　　Michae: Not bad. I like the wide lapels and the pant cuffs. It reminds me of
　　one I saw in the department store the other day. Did you get it there?
　　Terry: No, I got it at that new outfitters on the main street.
　　Michael: How much did it cost?
　　Terry: $350.
　　Michael: What? You could have got the one from the department store for $200. You've been ripped off!
　　得利：你認爲我這套新西裝怎麽樣？
　　麥可：很不錯。我喜歡那大繙領，以及褲腳的反折邊。這套西裝使我聯想到日前在百貨公司看到的那一套。你是在那裡買的嗎？
　　得利：不是，我是在大街那家服裝店買的。
　　麥可：價錢是多少？
　　得利：三百五十元。
　　麥可：什麽？百貨公司那一套，二百元就可以買到了。你被人敲竹杠啦。
　　得利問麥可：What do you think of my new suit?這一句的of可不可以改爲about？答案是‘可以’。Think of、think about都有‘對某人、某物抱……看法’的意思，例如：What do you think of/about his proposal?（你認爲他的建議怎樣？）不過，think high/a lot/a great deal of（認爲很好）、think badly/ill of（認爲不好）等的of卻不可改爲about，例如：Don't think ill of him just because he was late last time（不要因爲他上次遲到，就對他産生壞印象）。麥可廻答得利說：I like the wide lapels and the pant cuffs。西裝褲腳的反折邊，英式英文叫turn-up，美式則叫cuff或trouser/pant cuff，以別於指‘襯衫袖口’的cuff，例如：Tuck your turn-ups/cuffs into your socks to prevent mosquito bites（把褲腳反折処塞進襪子裡，以防被蚊叮）。Lapel是西裝的繙領，在左右兩襟，所以多用複數形式，和一般的衣領(collar)不同。Coats with narrow lapels are coming back into fashion即‘窄繙領的外衣，又開始流行了’。Rip off是‘敲竹杠’，這個詞拙欄從前談過，不必贅言；值得一談的，是main street。一般市鎮都有一條商鋪集中的大街，這在美國叫main street，英國叫法則頗爲奇怪，是high street，切勿直譯作‘高街’，例如：There are several international banks on/in the main/high street（大街上有幾家國際銀行）。
