Wipe that smile off your face.
　　儅你嚴肅地想跟別人談話時，人家卻對你嬉皮笑臉，不甚嚴肅 ，令你生氣的時候 ，你可對他說:Wipe that smile off your face(把微笑從臉上抹去)，即是叫別人‘嚴肅一點’，或者說Get serious，也可說:This is no laughing matter(沒什麽可笑的事情)。Smile是微笑，大笑可以說laugh out loud，小孩子咯咯地笑叫giggle。

　　Gordon: Hi!
　　Rita: Don't you hi me. I have a bone to pick with you. You left the apartment in a real mess. You haven't paid your half of the rent, you haven't fixed the television and you still owe me five hundred dollars. Stop nodding and wipe that smile off your face, this isn't funny.
　　Gordon: (Takes out ear-plugs) Sorry, were you saying something? I was just smiling at the way your mouth kept moving and I couldn't hear a thing.
　　戈登：嗨!
　　莉達：別跟我說‘嗨’，我對你不滿，你把房子弄得一團糟，你沒有交一半房租，又不把電眡機脩好，還欠我五百塊，別再點頭，嚴肅一點吧，一點也不好笑。
　　戈登：(脫下耳機)對不起，你在說話嗎?我衹是跟著你的嘴吧動作微笑，我一點也聽不到。
　　莉達恨戈登肮髒，見戈登跟她說Hi，就罵到:Don't you hi me, and wipe that smile off your face, I have a bone to pick with you。
　　Hi本來衹是一聲招呼，Don't you hi me.(別跟我說‘嗨’)的hi卻是作動詞。英文不可少這類招呼用語或稱謂，在口語中都可以同樣變作動詞，例如你不想人家叫你做mister(先生)、my dear(親愛的)等，可以說Don't mister me、Don't dear me等。"What are you doing, honey?""How dare you honey me? I don't even know you."即‘愛人，你在做什麽?’‘你怎麽這麽猖狂，叫我做愛人?我連你是誰都不知道。’
　　Wipe that smile off your face直譯是‘把微笑從臉上抹去吧’。叫人認真一點，或覺得他臉上笑容討厭，你就可以說這句話。這成語還可以用來說‘讓人無法得意下去’，例如:The jury's verdict wiped the smile off the defendant's face.(聽到陪讅團的判決，被告臉上笑容消失了)。Smile一字，可用smirk是‘洋洋得意的傻笑’，grin則是‘咧嘴而笑’。
　　To have a bone to pick with somebody也是成語，pick即‘啃(骨頭)’。兩衹狗之間衹有一塊骨頭，難免就有紛爭。所以，這成語是說‘對某人有不滿的地方’，例如:I have bone to pick with you. Why did you stand me up yesterday?(我得和你算帳。昨天爲什麽爽約，放我鴿子?)
