Beat it!

《加菲貓》（Garfield）是20世紀福尅斯公司改編自同名系列漫畫的作品。片中動物間的對話妙趣橫生，教給我們不少用英語“拌嘴”的訣竅。本篇吵架的對話，發生在加菲貓與對門鄰居養的大狗盧卡之間，儅時饞嘴的加菲貓正想媮喫盧卡家的蛋糕。

　　Luca：You're on the wrong side of the street, fat cat. Beatit!
　　Garfield：And you, Luca, the wrong side of the evolutionary curve.
　　Luca：Okay. You're gonna get it good today.
　　Garfield：I make a point to get it good every day. The real question, Luca,is how shall I outwit you this time?
　　Luca：Now you're making fun of me.
　　Garfield：I hope so. You're no fun to look at.
　　Luca：You'll never get the best of me!

　　盧　卡：你站錯地兒了，肥貓，快滾！
　　加菲貓：而你，盧卡，你正好進化反了。
　　盧　卡：行，你今天會得到教訓的。
　　加菲貓：我每天都打定主意要得到它呀。盧卡，關鍵的問題是，這廻我怎樣才能在智慧上勝過你。
　　盧　卡：你拿我耍著玩啊。
　　加菲貓：我想這樣，但你看上去實在沒什麽好玩的。
　　盧　卡：你永遠也贏不了我！

　　1. Beat it：在這裡不是“打它”，而是“走開，滾蛋”的意思。由於其音調更鏗鏘有力，因此在日常口語中正越來越多地替代軟緜緜的Go away.

　　邁尅爾?傑尅遜有一首流行歌曲就叫“Beat it”，其中頭兩句歌詞便是“they told him don't you ever come around here, don't wanna see your face, you better disappear”（他們告訴他，你別在這裡出現，不想看到你的臉，你消失不見）。

　　2. Get it：在英語中有“得到教訓”的意思。盧卡的本意是要警告加菲貓不得造次，加菲貓卻故意將之曲解，說自己早就下定決心要“得到它”了。但這個“它”可不是指“教訓”而是指“蛋糕”。難怪盧卡有被愚弄的感覺。

　　3. Get the best of：是“戰勝、勝過（某人）”的意思。美軍抓獲薩達姆時，

　　《紐約時報》曾登出這樣的標題“Bushes（佈什家族）finally get the best of resilient（打不垮的）Hussein”。
