Chinese New Year

Next week is ChineseNew Year. My good friend Jerry is going back to America to have a reunion with her family. Jerry and I have a good friendship. My father，mother and I decided to go shopping and buy some gifts for her. So we bought a lot of posters and some gifts for her. So we bought too many things，we took a taxi home. And we hope she and her family have a great Chinese New Year.

　　Chinese New Year is coming and my family is very busy. It‘s because Chinese New Year is very special and important. We must prepare many special things to get ready for this festival. First，will make New Year cake. Second，we will make“Good-luck wishes.”Third，we will set off firecrackers. New Year cake is sweet and we think that eating some will bring us good luck. A long time ago，people believed red color could bring them good luck too. And setting off firecrackers could frighten ghosts away. Chinese New Year is very popular between students. It’s because we have a long holiday.

　　Taiwan‘s most important holiday is the lunar New Year. During this time，people who live away from home return to be with relatives and friends. On Chinese New Year’s Eve，everybody sits around the table，eating a big feast and talking to each other. Certainly，it‘s a merry time for children. They can eat candy and cake and set off firecrackers. As red is a propitious color to the Chinese，parents put money in red envelopes. They give a red envelope to all of their children and hope that everything will be wonderful for them in the coming year. Traditionally，Chinese New Year is a time for families to reunite. Everyone visits relatives and friends and exchanges best wishes with them.
