　　Japan set to break a decades-old moratorium on hunting the famed humpback whale during its largest ever scientific whaling program that sets sail for the South Pacific.

　　Japan's whaling fleet will leave port for the South Pacific with orders to kill up to 50 humpbacks, the first known large-scale hunt for the whales since a 1963 moratorium put them under international protection.

　　日本啓動迄今爲止的“科研捕鯨”項目，捕鯨船將違反國際禁令，前往南太平洋捕殺的駝背鯨。據悉，捕鯨船隊將捕殺多達50頭駝背鯨。這將是1963年禁止捕殺駝背鯨以來，的駝背鯨捕殺行動。

　　打破/違反禁令爲“break a moratorium”; Moratorium 此処指 （行動、活動的）暫禁, 暫停，屬於正式的用法。它同時是一個法律詞滙，意爲“延期償付; 延緩償付期”，如“bank moratorium”是指法定銀行延期償付期。

　　“禁令”還常用“ban”來表示，如，解除禁令 lift a ban，違反禁令 violate a ban，實施禁令 impose a ban.
