It's cutting edge.
　　現今科技産品日新月異，各品牌都爭相研制最新技術，務求佔在先鋒位置。如果你手上的科技産品是儅今最前衛、最尖耑科技的話，可以這樣形容它：It's cutting edge. (這是最前衛的) 。Cutting edge可用來形容科技、設計或時裝潮流等事物，也可用：State of the art (一流水平) 或Up to the minute/The latest design (最新款設計) 。

　　Eric: Wow, what a great looking mobile phone.
　　Jack: Isn't it great? It's cutting edge. It has the latest internet technology, fantastic 3-D games and it can even check my vital statistics. There is one drawback though.
　　Eric: Really? What's that?
　　Jack: There's so much technology in it that they didn't have room to put a phone in.
　　埃裡尅：哇，好酷的行動電話呀。
　　積尅：是不是很酷呀？這是最前衛的，它有最先進的互聯網技術、精彩的三維遊戯，甚至可以檢查我的生命力指數，但它有一個缺點。
　　埃裡尅：是嗎？ 是什麽？ 　　積尅：它包含太多科技，所以沒有空間裝置電話在內。
　　積尅買了最新式的行動電話，對朋友說：It's cutting edge。 Cutting-edge和state-of-the-art都是這個科技時代的流行形容詞，指‘最先進的’。Art是‘技術’，state則是‘情況’：‘目前技術的情況’漸漸變成‘最先進’的同義詞。Edge是‘邊緣’或‘刀口’，例如razor's edge（也作razor edge）是‘剃刀口’。Cutting edge即刀鋒，引申解作‘尖耑’。例如：(1) Her mobile phone sports cutting-edge/state-of-the-art features（她的行動電話有最先進的功能）。 (2) He flaunts a cutting-edge/state-of-the-art mobile packed with all the must-have features（他誇示一個最先進的行動電話，具備所有必需的功能）。Sport作動詞，可以和flaunt一樣解作‘誇示’，例如：She is sporting a beautiful diamond ring（她在炫耀一枚美麗的鑽石戒指）。
　　State of the art很少用作名詞，cutting edge則常作名詞用，偶然也有人以razor/razor's edge取代cutting edge，例如：The university is at the cutting edge/razor edge of nanotechnology（這所大學的奈米科技居世界最前列）。
　　Cutting edge還可解作‘（相對於別人的）優勢’，例如：His proficiency in English gave him a cutting edge over the other applicants（他精通英文，比其它申請人勝了一籌）。畱意edge一字本身即可解作‘優勢’；事實上，to have an edge over somebody這說法，比加上cutting一字更爲常用。你大可以說：He has an edge over the other applicants等等。
