SUMMER INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY
　　AT BRITISH CONSULATE-GENERAL GUANGZHOU

　　The British Consulate-General, Guangzhou is looking to recruit a summer intern
　　. This position is on a temporary basis from 14 July to 22 August 2008.

　　The person recruited will have a chance to gain valuable experience in the Pol
　　itical, Economic and Public Affairs Section.

　　MAIN JOB FUNCTIONS

　　· Research with a particular focus on Chinese local government structures, climate change and economic issues.

　　· Assisting in delivery of projects on environmental protection, corporate social responsibility, etc.

　　· Administrative work.

　　SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

　　The following skills and experience are essential:

　　· Excellent spoken & written English (CET 6/IELTS 6) and Mandarin.
　　· Ability to work in a team with good communication skills.
　　· Computer literacy in standard Microsoft applications.

　　The following experience is desirable:

　　· Background knowledge or an academic record in one or more of the following areas: Sociology, Economics, Environment, etc.
　　· Social work or volunteer experience.

　　The internship requires half-day working (2-5 PM) with an offer of RMB 1500 (including daily transportation costs) for the 6 weeks period.
