英語講義【81】可分開的片語動詞

在《片語動詞》一文裡，提到片語動詞可帶賓語，但也有些不帶賓語，可帶賓語的兩個動詞可分開，不帶賓語的不可分開；不帶賓語的意思轉變時，便可能帶賓語，如：

　　① The weather turned out（証明是） fine.（不帶賓語）
　　② That factory turns out（制造） high-precision instruments.（帶賓語）

　　有賓語的片語動詞等於及物動詞（transitive verbs），沒賓語的就是不及物動詞（intransitive verbs）。

　　接下來，要多擧些可分開的片語動詞，讓大家蓡考，希望看後遵循著同樣的路曏，盡量補充這類慣用語，以豐富常用詞滙，加強講寫能力。

　　back up：支持
　　“I often back up my friends when they do something good.”

　　count in：包括在內
　　“We will go shopping this Saturday. Shall we count you in? ”

　　count out：不包括；不考慮
　　“If the oversea tour costs too much, you had better count are me out ; I can't afford it.”

　　ferret out：搜出
　　“Two detectives went to the suspect's house to ferret out whatever is useful for their investigation.”

　　stamp out：撲滅
　　“The government should do everything possible to stamp out social ills.”

　　pick up：學習
　　“It is not difficult to pick up a language if it is useful. ”

　　put off：延期
　　“Because of bad weather, the foofball match was put off until further notice.”

　　take over：接受
　　“Who will take over the family business at the death of the father?”

　　tide over：渡過（難關）
　　“We will lend you some money to tide you over this period of difficulty.”

　　bear out：証明
　　“Who can bear you out if you accuse him of swindling?”

　　beef up：加強；充實
　　“Some countries in this region intend to beef up their military power.”

　　blow out：誇大
　　“For publicity's sake, some small events have been blown up in the press.”

　　bottle up：壓抑情緒
　　“Let's know your bad feelings; don't bottle them up!”

　　break off ：中斷
　　“The two countries have broken off their peace negotiations which are not expected to be resumed in near future.”

　　bring about：帶來；産生
　　“Nancy's recklessness has brought about her failure. She has only herself to blame.”

　　call off：取消
　　“No one can call off a prearranged meeting at will.”

　　draw up：草擬；制訂
　　“Make sure that the agreement you have drawn up is clear and accurate.”

　　let down：令人失望
　　“You must try your best to help David . Don't let him down. ”

　　rope in：拉人蓡加
　　“Paul has roped his wife in to organise the seminar.”

　　 shake off：避開
　　“It seems difficult for Peggie to shake off some minor ailments.”

　　從上麪例子可以得到這兩個公式：

　　A. 動詞＋副詞性虛詞＋名詞賓語
　　B. 動詞＋名詞賓語＋副詞性虛詞

　　代詞賓語

　　例：

　　A. Please take off your hat.
　　B. Please take your hat off/ Please take it off
