朋友說他從前讀大學時有位教授，可能屬於absent-minded的學者，上課時常常帶錯了講義，便說東道西，隨便談些歷史掌故。由於他的講古，有趣動聽，因此常擠滿了旁聽的學生，頗受歡迎。他的上課時間多數在午飯後，往往在下課鈴後要多講幾分鍾，然後似乎忽然想記，說到：“我喫過午飯沒有呢？”顯然“失魂”到忘了自己喫過飯沒有了！
