The Twins

When you come to our class， you'll find two boys with[in]（1）the same clothes， the same shoes and with almost the same face. The boys are twins. Their names are Zhang Xiaoyang and Zhang Xiaoquan.

　　Both of the brothers study well. But Xiaoyang is very good at physics， and Xiaoquan does well in Chinese and English. So at home， they often study together and help each other. In the final examinations， the two brothers both got good marks， but Xiaoquan did a little better than Xiaoyang. When we congratulated them， Xiaoquan smiled but Xiaoyang was not happy. He said，“Though my mark doesn't look bad， I failed in the competition with my brother. But I believe I will win the next time.”He clenched（捏緊）his fists， looked at Xiaoquan， and gave a challenge（挑戰）。 Xiaoquan accepted it at once， saying“OK”。Looking at the two lovely and friendly brothers， we applauded， and cheered them on.

　　The two brothers are both interested in playing football. They have joined two different teams. At first， boys often passed the ball to the wrong one of the twins by mistake. All the boys thought it a knotty problem（難題）。 So when they played again， the brothers dressed themselves in different shirts. It was now easy to tell them from each other.

　　Since the twins came to our class， they have brought much delight to us. All of us love them. But how can we tell them[apart]（2）correctly when they are not on the sportsfield？ Well， there is a little black dot（點）above Zhang Xiaoquan's left eyebrow， but not above Xiaoyang's. Then you， too， can tell them [apart]（3）next time. OK？

　　全文用語很樸素，但讀來親切活潑，作者在對雙胞胎兄弟描寫時，多次用到對比法，使行文流暢自然。另外，作者還在如何區分雙胞胎兄弟上做文章，增加了文章的樂趣，文章中某些語言上的不足之処點評脩改如下：

　　（1）表示衣服穿戴的介詞要用in.

　　（2）、（3）表示“區別……”，一般用tell A from B，或tell A and B apart.故這裡分別加上了apart.
