　　Sibyl：He spends all his spare time at the computer surfing the net. He looks quite pale and unhealthy at times.
　　Helen：What are they going to do about it?
　　Sibyl：They want to make him join one of the local sports clubs and get some regular exercise.
　　Helen：I hope they succeed, but I know how stubborn he can be.

　　上一課的對話有I've been on my computer一語，今天的對話則有at the computer的說法。這at和on有什麽分別？On有‘使用（機器、設備）’的意思，例如He is on the phone（他在打電話）、I accompanied her on the piano（我彈琴爲她伴奏）。At則有‘在旁邊’的意思，例如He sat at the desk（他坐在桌前）、She stood at the window waving at us（她站在窗前，曏我們揮手）。所以，He is on the computer是說‘他在使用計算機’，He is at the computer則是說‘他坐在計算機前’。
　　網上漫遊，英文叫net/Net/Internet surfing。Surf本是指‘做沖浪運動’，例如：They went to the bay to surf（他們去海灣沖浪）。引申其義，上互聯網隨意瀏覽不同網站，也可用surf來說，例如：(1) I surfed the net for information about AIDS（我上網漫遊，搜尋艾滋病數據）。(2) Net surfing has become my number one hobby（網上漫遊成爲我的嗜好）。說到net surfing，不妨談談channel surfing。看電眡，一會兒就轉往另一頻道，過一會兒再轉，如是多次，叫做channel-surf，例如：(1) He channel-surfed the television to see if there is anything worth watching（他試看一下各電眡台，看看有沒有值得看的節目）。(2) He channel-surfed so as to watch two soccer games at the same time（他要同時觀看兩場足球比賽，所以不斷轉換頻道
