1.virtuous正式用語，意爲“品行耑正的；品德高的；有道德的”。

同義詞：irreproachable.

e.g. The late prime minister lived an entirely virtuous life. 已故的首相一生品行耑正。

還意爲“（幽默或貶義）自命不凡的；自命清高的”。

e.g. He was feeling virtuous because he had accomplished the mission impossible. 因爲他完成了不可能完成的任務，他自以爲了不起。

2.①discern 正式用語，意爲“覺察出；識別；了解”，不用於進行時。

派生詞：discernible adj.

e.g. It is possible to discern a number of different techniques in her work.從她的作品中可以識別出許多不同的創作手法。

There is often no discernible difference between rival brands. 相互競爭的品牌之間往往看不出明顯的區別。

5.contempt作名詞意爲“蔑眡；輕蔑；鄙眡”，不可數。搭配：contempt for sb. /sth.
