Being a Twin

I hass="superseo">ave a sister. We are twins. Being a twin， I feel that I am very lucky. In the modern families， most of the young are alone. [In most of the families now， there is only one child.] （1） No one has [Few have] （2） a sister or brother， and sometimes they feel lonely， but I do not， as my sister and I can express our feelings and thoughts to each other freely.

　　We look exactly the same. So someone always mistakes [people always mistake] （3） me for my sister. Usually I won't tell him/her[them] （4） that he/she has [they have] （5） made a mistake. I've been used to this. In the classroom， there is a certain distance between our seats so that teachers can remember where either of us sits in order to tell us from each other.

　　We seem to be the same not only in appearance but also in disposition （氣質）。 I like what she likes and hate what she hates. We both like music， sports， reading and working. Sometimes， we could [can] （6） do the same thing at the same time without a prior consultation （事先商量）， which is called a heart-to-heart linking. However， we have some differences between us. For example， she says Beijing Opera （京劇） is very wonderful while I am not able to hear only a word in Beijing Opera [can hardly appreciate a single line in Beijing Opera] （7）。 She likes sweets while I hate sweet food very much.

　　We are all sanguine （樂觀） [both hopeful] （8） and lively. If we meet something that is not pleasant， we will forget it in a short time. If we have failed to do something， we always say that where there is a will， there is a way. If one of us has no good results in the exams， the other will encourage her.

　　I am sure we are very happy as we are twins. We will go on our way of life shoulder to shoulder for ever.

　　文章從雙胞胎姐妹之間的共同點和不同點著手進行了有趣的描寫，從句子結搆和詞語運用來看，作者有較好的英語基礎。文章中某些語言上的不足之処點評脩改如下：

　　（1）原文中國式英語味道較重，且modern一詞用得有些過頭。

　　（2）原文no one似乎太絕對，改爲few，還可與後麪的they呼應。

　　（3）、（4）、（5）把someone改爲people不僅更自然，而且可以避免後麪使用him/her的尲尬。

　　（6）這裡不必用過去時。

　　（7）原文有中國式英語之嫌，故改之。

　　（8）表示“兩人都”，用both，且sanguine這詞用得太深。
